DOOLIN -The Captial of Traditional Irish Music

Doolin Activity Lodge is situated in the heart of Doolin between Roadford and Fisherstreet. For the foreign traveller a trip to this village has always been a must due to its central location for those who wish to enjoy some genuine Irishness. The Capital of Irish Traditional music, Doolin, can also boast proximity to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher and the famous Burren region. Doolin also acts as a gateway to the mystical Aran Isalnds which lie 8 miles westwards. A regular ferry service from Doolin serves all three Islands daily in the summer season.

The North Clare village of Doolin attracts a great numbers of visitors each year due to the area's wealth of both geological and historical wonders. The Burren region which is one of the most unique and ancient landscapes in Europe is just a fifteen minute drive and is an excellent base for walkers, cyclists, botanists and indeed for those wishing to experince some more strenuous activities such as caving and abseiling. The vast network of caves of the Burren feature many speleological wonders and the largest free hanging stalectite in Europe is here nearby in Poll na Ionain.

Doolin is indeed a pivotal point in Clare for all outdoor activities, the Doolin Activity Lodge was first envisioned due to the proximity of the Fisher Street Pot, an entrance to which is on site. The Lodge is half a mile from Doolin pier which acts an excellent slipway for diving boats which can be safely stored here at night.

The lodge is situated along the Burren Way making it an ideal centre for both walkers and cyclists. Centres such as Seaworld in Lahinch and the Ailwee Caves in the Burren are the ideal venue for the rainy day. Excellent sea angling is available from the shore at Fanore.

At night Doolin offers the traveller several bars and restaurants with which to whet the appetite. It also enables travellers to learn more about surrounding areas including the Burren, the Aran Islands and Galway.
