Re:The Altar Restaurant 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Meself and my family ate here last Friday night, we booked a table thinking on a Friday night it would be busy but to our horror we where the only group of people in the restaurant. The service was good (as we where the only table to wait on) but the food was very disappointing. The starters and the main dishes came with a lot of salad, which we felt was plate filler. I ordered the steak for mains and it was fatty and didn't taste that nice at all and I didn't finish it. 3 people ordered the sea bass and it was also very disappointing as there wasn't very much of it and again plates had to much salad on them. The deserts where also nothing to write home about as shop bought meringue nets with tinned cream and coffee not hot enough.
As it was a family evening we didn't want to ruin it by complaining but all felt very annoyed afterwards for paying for such bad quality food.
I think this used to be an italian restaurant as this is why we booked it but will never go back and would never recommend it. When you are spending good money on food you want the food to be at a high standard and this was well below standard.
Very disappointing evening [/color]
